Kuta Alam Sub District was one of the affected by tsunami in 2004. More than 50% of the area was covered by the wave > 1 meter. Due to the vulnerable region toward the tsunami disaster, the escape building for the evacuation is very important to minimalize the lost life. This study aims to find out alternative buildings that can be used for evacuation in Kuta Alam Sub District. The analytical building capability toward the tsunami implemented by connecting the level of the Tsunami surface and the breakwater lines condition. The research is using qualitative and quantitaive approach through surveying and scoring. Data analyzing is conducted spatially through geografical information system. The result show that the level of vulnerable building classified into very high, high, fair, and low as represented (1,79%); (55,17%); (35,21%); and (7,83%) from the total 11.034 units of buildings in Kuta Alam Sub District. The alternative buildings for evacuation are public buildings which are catagorized from low to fair. At the moment, there are 45 alternative buildings for evacuation in Kuta Alam Sub District. Based on the availability of the proper building can accommodate 94,06 % of the total population which are 49.011 people.
