Abstract

This study aimed to analyze Social upheaval was occurred in the Bantul earthquake disaster in 2006. The study is centered in the Janganan village, Sewon, Bantul as a locus of study to look at a wide range of social unrest that occurred in the community. The study shows that the social unrest that occurred in the community due to the clash between the values of rational action, affective, and traditional. The contestation rooted in human desire which always looking for security and protection in an atmosphere of disaster. Presence of a figure persona that exists in relation patronage becomes essential to reduce the social turbulence negative oriented.
